Disc 2 - Sun

Now for disc 2, Sun, this is where my life hit a turning point and I took my existence into my own hands (with massive help and pushing from my mother at the start) and to really get to the bottom of what was goin on for me and subsequently fix it and work my way towards Rebirth.

This is the most important track to me on this record, if I had to choose. This puts the internal realization, conflict, acceptance, and eventual pride of my nonbinary gender identity, into the light for the first time in my life. It's also noteworthy that this has my favorite riff I've ever written in it, but that's besides the point.

I struggled with this internally for as long as I could remember, not understanding gender-centered ideas and concepts the same way everyone else did and having no idea why. Then through meeting and talking to some very knowledgeable and trustworthy people in the Guitar Hero community of all places, I was able to put a pinpoint on what was going on for all these years. Then as I slowly started coming out to friends and loved ones, it began to make more and more sense. I'm now extremely proud of who I am, and can say with certainty that I do in fact love myself, which I'm still adjusting to after all this time. This song reflects all of that in a strong, albeit succinct, fashion.

If you are a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and you happen to enjoy black metal but feel disenfranchised or isolated from the genre and even metal as a whole, I hope that this song is at least something to hold onto for a form of representation. You're not alone, even if you think you are. I'm with you.

lyrics

The dual visions you've always known
Is there more to this than I've been taught?

My heart and mind are conflicted
Is this reality?
Who am I?

There is no distinction
No confines of dichotomy
I am one, I am me
I am relieved from my prison
My eyes are open wide
I am finally free
